Interesting. And a better musician than actor? I dunno, Jared Leto maybe? Not really into 30STM that much but he’s definitely multi-talented. He’s good at both I guess. And the fact that he’s been successful thus far with both careers is rare as well. Can’t think of anyone else at the moment, but that was a good point you made though.
andrew…i love this man. if im ever short with answers it’s usually because im trying to (at the very least) get to everyone’s suggestion. that said…i think your idea is great and i will try to get more precise in my reasons for what it is that really makes me like/dislike something (more so on the dislike tip). as far as other questions and topics go (and i mentioned this in an earlier post but should keep doing so) i would love to answer/talk about anything. if u want to suggest one song and then discuss something else do it. it would be a nice change of pace…which is what ur last post was. i actually thought you were correct in asking for clarification. keep it up man. there are some really great comments on this series. thanx for checking back in.
Entertaining and informative! Great stuff to hear about the instruments you have (future blog topic?). I’ve often wondered why people play the things they do/how they got what they are playing.
Thanks for taking the time to address my inquiry. I figured the quick reply could be a “my blog” sort of thing, and I get that totally, but at least I got the extended answer along with. I wasn’t trying to be confrontational, or plead for a positive opinion on Daft Punk. I just wanted more of an explanation and the “D” video response didn’t satisfy my curiosity. It may have seemed a bit of a calling out. But I tried to scale back, give the benefit of the doubt, ask objective questions, and see what exactly where it all leads. Perhaps some of my feelings showed through?
Sometimes it seems as though the replies are forced short, I would rather get insight into exactly why you do or do not like something and have this series run into 2020 then be left with ambiguity.
As far as actors go, I also didn’t care for whatever that band was playing. Note how memorable a listen it was. I can’t even remember the band’s name or what they sounded like. But it seemed to fit where I would have taken the discussion that everything is a tool (be it a children’s choir or Vox bass, or a tube of metal banging against another tube). Whatever tool is used is irrelevant as long the sound produced is as the artist intended. I think the point you were making was clear that a lot of one “plays” in the other, with poor results. I might be inclined to agree, but there are always the exceptions.
Regardless of whatever the whole concept of what is going on here is fantastic. I found myself humming a song (Dr. Blind) in the shower the other day. I hope people don’t burnout before Z.
Fran, you play bass as well as Eberhard, and I’ll bet you know some tricks he doesn’t. The jazz bassists do harmonic explorations that don’t work on rock songs. The rock bassists drive and elevate songs and support guitarists and singers. The talent is equal, just different. You are a GREAT bass player; don’t forget it! – Nick

Tony’s lackadaisical attitude is fucking epic. BTW – Special Ed. ED. Capital E. Lowercase d. Special is an adjective.

Happy Holidays Fran!!!!
